League of Legends - The Making of the Freljord Music

I'm a video gamer and I've spent a lot of hours on the free online League of Legends. Although I don't actually play it now due to time constraints, I come across information sometimes about what's really going on at the LoL camp.

Riot Games, developer of League of Legends, put this video up on YouTube that showcases how the composers created the music for the Freljord territory in the League of Legends lore.

I don't really know much about Freljord, but this wiki page should possibly give you more information.

Oh right, this is a music blog and I will get back to talking about music. So, composer Christian “Praeco” Linke teamed up with composers Alexander Temple and Sebastien Najand to create a brilliant composition that showcases the emotion and feeling of Freljord.

The idea of putting this post up was to bring to light the intricacies and understandings of many different aspects of creating music. Linke mentioned that he walks the halls of the art team for inspiration.

What I believe he is actually doing is drawing emotion for the sake of subconscious contemplation.

I'll leave you with the full composition below. I find it incredibly beautiful. It is teeming with different layers of beautifully arranged expressions.

Free Weekly Audio Plugin Give-Away - Density MKIII

The Density MKIII comes from the same author who designed the previous week's BootEQ MKII.

The Density MKIII is technically a mastering-grade compressor which brings a "three-dimensional" rendering to it's audio input. According to the author, "the transient response is spot on now over the entire spectrum and it creates sonic depth and dimension."

"This feature is very much supported by stateful saturation, which is also included now and appears on the stage as a brand new developed “VCA color” model and can be dialed in to taste," he adds.

The Density MKIII is basically a successor to the MKII version. Don't forget to check out the Variety of Sound page to find out what's new in the MKIII.

Digital Audio Workstation Spotlight - REAPER 4.0

In simple terms, a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) is a software that you can use on your computer or workstation to facilitate the creation of music. They run on your existing computer provided they meet the recommended requirements.

There have been many different DAWs over the years both commercial and non-commercial, paid and free.

Today, we're looking at a  Digital Audio Workstation from Cockos - REAPER 4.0
REAPER was first released as a freeware on 23rd December 2005. Since then, they've been a host to a strong community of users who swear by REAPER due to it's excellent capabilities and feature-sets.

As it evolved, new versions brought significant "evolutionary" updates to the software. Now, REAPER comes in two license versions - A full commercial license ($225) and a discounted license ($60)

REAPER is a brilliant alternative in terms of affordability and features compared to some expensive DAWs on the market. This is an excellent tool for anyone who's starting to make music or is shifting from another DAW.
